The Knox County Food Protection programs and services work to identify, reduce, and eliminate factors in food service operations which have the potential to create foodborne illness. The Food Safety division focuses on prevention and enforcement by conducting inspections, licensing of facilities, and providing education. 

Farmers Market and Cottage Foods
Farmer's Market and Cottage Food safety ensures that produce and locally produced foods, which are distributed directly to consumers, are certified and safe. 

Food Establishments
Food establishments, including restaurants and retail food services, must be licensed and regularly inspected to guarantee safety standards.   

Temporary Food Permits
Temporary food establishments are food service facilities that operate for less than 14 consecutive days. All temporary food establishment must have a permit prior to operation.
